We are working in partnership with Crediton Town Team and Crediton Arts Centre to put a on a celebration of the Platinum Jubilee weekend with something for everyone. We will be starting celebrations with a flag making workshop with a professional artist, accompanied by the Town Crier Proclamation and the lighting of the beacon in the evening. On Friday we will have the Town Band entertaining local care home residents on the Town Square with some classic British sing a long songs whilst enjoying a Cream Tea. On Saturday we are hosting a Family Fun Day at Newcombes Park with lots for the children to get involved in and a chance for families to meet up and enjoy each others company. The Saturday night will also see Newcombes Park become the home for an open air film screening starting at sundown.
The Sunday will see celebrations for St Boniface, the patron Saint of Devon for Devon day where the Town Square will host an array of celebrations. Local actors telling the Story of St Boniface, the long standing tradition that the Christmas Tree originated from Crediton, folk singing and the beginning of annual traditions.
The Big Sunday Lunch will start at approximately 1pm accompanied by an afternoon of local performers, singers and bands. There will be traders for street food, a mouthwatering Boniface Bun, tables and chairs or space to simply bring a blanket. A tug of war will get the competitive juices flowing, along with fancy dress opportunities.
Four days of fantastic celebrations within the community to bring everyone together.
