Our project ‘Crowns and Cuppas’ is a partnership with Cultural Springs and a local artist. WE are creating a 3ft x 5ft wall hanging commemorating the Queen’s Jubilee. The artist will work with 70 participants from South Tyneside who will take part in workshops, to create the piece which will be displayed by the Jubilee weekend. We will hold celebration afternoon teas for participants and their families/carers. The piece will feature teacups, crowns and biscuits with a central image of a crown and the dates of the jubilee. We want participants to learn a traditional technique (Hooky and Proggy) that originated in the North East, enabling them to engage with their local history, furthermore learning a new crafting technique.
