Established in 1968, The Egham Museum is an independent community museum located in the Literary Institute in the High Street, fondly known as The Lit built in the late 18th Century.
Serving the communities of Egham, Egham Hythe, Englefield Green, Thorpe and Virginia Water, we explore the history of the local area from its earliest settlers in the Neolithic and Bronze Ages to the present day.
In all of the work we do we aim to tell national stories through a local lens and this exhibition is no different. Featuring documents, photos and objects from the museum collection, Crowns Commemoration and Community takes visitors on a journey from the coronation of Queen Victoria to the present day, showcasing local celebrations and events to mark royal milestones. We are inviting people to contribute their own memories to our interactive timelines to build a bigger picture of how Egham and the surrounding area has come together for these national (and internationally) important moments.
