In collaboration with DanceEast, Ipswich-based dance company EncoreEast will perform Elizabeth! in front of Christchurch Mansion in Christchurch Park. The performance celebrates local talent and the joy of dancing together across the ages. It will include opportunities for audiences to take part and to watch a collage of authentic dance from the period of the first Queen Elizabeth. This will be taught by EncoreEast member and Colchester Historical Dance Director Jackie Marshall-Ward and performed to live music by Lizzie Gutteridge and her Colchester Consort. Ipswich-born dancer and choreographer Hannah Rudd will bring us up to date to celebrate the reign of our own Queen Elizabeth by creating a contemporary dance to new music by Quinta (Kath Mann). Costumes will be created by Juan Gil.
Elizabeth! has been co-commissioned by DanceEast and EncoreEast. It is funded by Suffolk Community Foundation through the Let’s Create Jubilee Fund (ACE).
