The Elstead Jubilee Committee was set up in October 2021 to plan celebration events over the extended Bank Holiday weekend of 2-5 June 2022. Elstead Parish Council and the Elstead Recreational Trust acted as initial sponsors to finance a big marquee as the focal point for events on the village’s cricket pavilion recreation ground. Below is a programme of events taking place over the Jubilee weekend.

Thursday 2 June
Afternoon Tea Party – Senior members of the village are invited to a tea party from 2.30pm with entertainment provided by the Players of Elstead Theatrical Society (PETS).
Toddlers Teddy Bear’s Picnic – Parents are invited to bring toddlers along with their teddy bears to join the tea party.

Beacon Lighting – Elstead Royal British Legion will host its musical Elfest event in the run up to a Beacon Lighting at 9.45pm accompanied by the Elstead Village Voices choir who will sing the official Commonwealth Jubilee song. PETS will also perform during the evening.

Friday 3 June
Songs Through Seven Decades – local bands Roll Um Easy and Creature of Habit perfom songs from the past 7 decades in the Jubilee Marquee from 7.30pm. The village Scout group will provide a BBQ supper.

Saturday 4 June
Kids Fun Activity Afternoon – village children organisations will host an afternoon of fun and games including silent disco, bouncy slide, colour run.

Barn Dance – a traditional barn held inside the marquee from 7.30pm with entertainment form the Hogs Back Band. BBQ supper provided by Scouts.

Sunday 5 June
Service of Thanksgiving – Elstead Churches Together will host a service in the Jubilee Marquee at 11am

Platinum Picnic at the Pav – The Big Lunch – village picnic at the Jubilee Marquee from 1pm plus exhibition of Elstead life and entertainment inside the marquee throughout the afternoon including a toast to the Queen.

There will also be a Children’s Painting Competition and Bake-Off Contest run in conjunction with the Jubilee celebrations.
