Diss Town Council is the first tier of local government for Diss. Our vision is to make Diss a successful, vibrant, attractive town, where people want to live, work and visit. And our mission is to support the community and promote Diss as the heart of East Anglia for business, leisure and the arts.

‘Glow in the Park’ on 2nd June 2022 will celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee starting at 4pm with street food and drink stalls and live local music. At 9pm, 70 schoolchildren will process through the town centre with lanterns they have designed & created to the Park where the beacon lighting ceremony and a firework display over the Mere will follow ending at 10.30pm. This free event will be accessible to all – young, old, families, individuals from a range of different backgrounds – and will bring the whole community together in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

This project emanated from the desire to mark this momentous occasion and bring together the community following the pandemic. A growing and dedicated group of volunteers alongside the Town Council including the local Rotary Clubs and school representatives are championing this project to create a free family event that is accessible to all community groups. We are helping to provide our local sixth formers with work experience opportunities by involving them in the planning and running of the event. Involving the community has been integral to this project.
