In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British monarch to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee after 70 years on the throne. To mark this momentous occasion, The National Archives is digitising records from our collections about Her Majesty’s life, coronation and reign as well as revealing interesting and intriguing tales from royal history.

On Friday 29 April and Saturday 30 April, between 11am and 4pm, members of the public will be able to visit The National Archives to get up close and personal with our historic documents, meet specialists and explore coronations through the ages. This original document display will showcase documents relating to the coronations of Richard III, Elizabeth I, Charles II, George III, Victoria and Elizabeth II and you will be able to touch the original documents and ask questions of our records specialists who will be in attendance. These events are free to attend, and no booking is necessary.
