For centuries Irvine Old Parish Church has been the “town church”, where local and nation events have been celebrated over the years. Each year the local civic groups are still ‘kirked’ and is the centre for the Remembrance Service.
For the Platinum Jubilee, the Kirk Session and congregation has invited all the civic groups and extends that invitation to the citizens of the town to a celebratory service on Sunday, 5th June at 11:00am.
This will be followed by a Big Lunch in the church hall and garden at which a plaque will be placed at the tree planted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.
At 7:00pm on the same evening, the church is hosting an organ recital in the church at which the church organist, Sam Prescott, will be playing a selection of music associated with royal events.
The Kirk Session thanks North Ayrshire Council for funding received towards the cost of those events..
