Operation Street Party

The Shotton old steelworks clocktower and estate and its gardens based in Deeside are an amazing asset that has been left to fall into rack and ruin in its years of neglect.

Ours and the community’s vision is building a legacy for current and future generations that raises and appreciate the industrial and cultural significance of the site. A Site that in its prime attracted visits from Winston Churchill, a morale boosting visit in World War II from King George V1 and Queen Elizabeth through to the 1953 visit from the Duke of Edinburgh to officially open the first phase of the post-war “heavy end” development scheme.

Our vision through this initiative is to re-ignite people’s passions within the local community to feel good about the Deeside region and using its heritage, nature, and culture as a force for good.

Through both the site/gardens we can grow the community alongside the site and allow people to take ownership for a little bit of their heritage, from planting a tree, creating a community landscape/sculpture that captures people’s imaginations, or designing a feature within the site.

On the 4th June 2022 we call all surrounding communities to come together and celebrate this momentous day on the site.

We are proud to announce the 3rd wish in our 3 wishes campaign ran alongside amazing funding from The National Lottery Community Fund Wales #platinumfunding.

Music, coming together, food and friendship.

Where ever you are based in Flintshire, come on over and enjoy this celebration held in the grounds of the clocktower and alongside the river on century way with the backdrop of the 100 poplars.

This is a totally free event, although donations would be greatly appreciated.

Bring food and drink, some will be provided, and we will have stalls available with games and entertainment long into the night.

Book the date now on the 4th June 10am to 11pm
