We are running a two-day celebration. With Sports Day planned for Friday 3rd June. This will take place throughout the town and will include cricket, football, tennis, bowls, a swimming gala, netball, basketball, and others. The winners will be presented with trophies on Saturday in the Market Place.
On Saturday, the day will be split into two halves. It starts from 10 am to 2.30 pm with “Dancing in the Street” where we plan to have a vintage market with food stalls, funfair and 3 sound stages playing music for a variety of tastes in and around the town centre.
We’ll have union jack bunting and we’re inviting the whole town to get involved by wearing fancy dress celebrating the Queen’s seventy-year reign giving us all an opportunity to participate and enter the celebratory spirit.
During this event prizes for sports events (which will take place on 3rd June), Best Fancy Dress and the Best Dressed Shop Front Competition, will be given out by a Town Cryer/MC.
We’re aiming for a joyous party atmosphere where families can wander around the shops and stalls and sit down to enjoy something to eat whilst listening to one of the bands.
Then we move to “Fun in the Field”. From 3 pm the party moves to Fletton Field, where we’ll have more entertainment with local bands, a beer and cider tent, some food stalls gearing up to watch the Buckingham Palace concert on a big screen.
