The National Trust’s Polesden Lacey is planning a 1950s themed Jubilee celebration that will run for the whole of the bank holiday weekend. With live music on the historic terrace from 1pm-3pm, the south lawn is the perfect place to sit with friends and family with a picnic and enjoy the stunning views across the valley.

Children can take part in the Jubilee treasure hunt or enjoy a ride on the miniature train that will be here on Friday 3 June. The Rangers will also be on hand to talk about the essential work they do to maintain the vast Estate. You may also like to buy a beautifully made chopping board made by the volunteer woodworking team.

Visiting this weekend is also an opportunity to learn more about Polesden Lacey’s unique connections with the Royal family and the breathtaking jewels that the last owner, Mrs Greville, bequeathed to her good friend, the Queen Mother. You may also like to take a tour of the house and look at the fabulous collection of treasures that will be on display as part of the ‘Treasured Possessions’ exhibition, featuring many pieces of Mrs Greville’s collection that haven’t been on display for more than four years.

There are lots of refreshment options and you can stock-up on picnic items at the coffee shop or cafe on your way into the property. Alternatively you can enjoy some refreshments and ice cream at the Beech Hut near the children’s play area.
