Ards and North Down Borough Council is a local authority located in the Belfast City region of Northern Ireland.

As a key part of the Council’s celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Council’s annual Sea Bangor event invites local people to enjoy a FREE family day at Bangor seafront highlighting 7 incredible decades of the Queen’s reign.

Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. In honour of the occasion, Bangor Seafront will come alive with activity on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June for Sea Bangor Celebrates the Platinum Jubilee, the long-standing event with a twist in honour of the occasion.

The weekend event will reflect and celebrate the 7 decades of the Queen’s reign.

There will be beach huts, vintage funfair rides and a ballroom featuring music and dance of the eras in Quay Street Car Park and the McKee Clock Arena will have a static display of 70 vehicles reflecting the last 70 years of motoring.

Food and drink stalls will also line the Pier with seating areas encouraging visitors to sit and enjoy the holiday atmosphere. Along the Pier you will also find the demo kitchen featuring chefs from each of the decades, serving up iconic recipes including Coronation Chicken and lots of prawn cocktails! Each of the chefs will recreate the classics of their era, and will feature ‘Desert Island Discs’, with their favourite music from the time.

The Pier will also be the location for a live interactive theatre production ‘Jubilee Jukebox’ which will transform the pier into a journey through our living rooms, from the 1950s through to the 2020s. The audience will select tracks and watch the living Jukebox of musicians and actors play the tunes and bring the memorabilia of that decade to life.
