The extended bank holiday, from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June, provides an excellent opportunity for us to come together as a Community and celebrate this historic milestone. Your Community Council in association with the Village Hall Committee and the Spooner Row Primary School have therefore joined forces to organise two Platinum Jubilee events on Thursday 2nd June 2022.

Coronation Style Party

The Village Hall Committee and the Spooner Row Primary School will be putting on a free to attend Coronation Style Street Party in the Village Hall between 2:00 & 4:00 PM on the afternoon of Thursday 2nd June, for children between 4 and 12 years of age who live within our community or attend Spooner Row Primary School. The party will involve a fancy dress competition along with other games, and all those who attend will receive a commemorative gift. The Party is also open to the older residents within our community, some of whom may remember the Queen’s Coronation.

Platinum Jubilee Party on the Playing Field

On the evening of Thursday 2nd June 2022, commencing at around about 6:30 PM, Spooner Community Council will be hosting a Platinum Jubilee Party on the playing field, which will culminate with the inaugural lighting, at 9:45 PM, of a permanent beacon which will be installed on the playing field for our community. The event will be free to attend and will include live music, with The Lee Vasey Band as the headline act. There will also be a bar plus food outlets providing hog roast and pizzas; alternatively feel free to bring your own picnic. This event is open to anyone who wishes to party with their neighbours, but also feel free to invite other friends and family from further afield. Discounted food tickets will be available to purchase in advance of the event through www.eventbrite.co.uk.

Leading up to the day’s celebrations, children and adults can take part in aQueen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon Trail.
