Set against some of the most beautiful and rugged scenic landscape on offer in the United Kingdom, the Great Wilderness Challenge features a number of physically demanding walks and runs over a variety of distances and terrains in the Fisherfield-Letterewe area of Wester Ross, an iconic area with arguably the most dramatic mountain scenery in Scotland. Primarily a charity fundraising event the GWC has raised over £4.2 million for Healthcare charities since inception in 1986. It is a friendly event renowned for its hospitality, camaraderie and inclusivity.

This year we are proud to rebrand our event to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We are delighted to be part of this momentous occasion and are also pleased to be returning the event to Poolewe after a 2 year absence.

HARD as you want – or EASY as you want! – the inclusive nature of our event means there is something to suit every taste or range of fitness and ability. From the arduous 25 mile route from Dundonnell to Poolewe for the insanely fit, to the less challenging but equally scenic 13 mile, 7 mile and 10k routes, to the low level limited mobility walks, the choice abounds.

VIRTUAL OPTION: We are also pleased to offer the opportunity to take part in a ‘virtual’ version this year, giving participants the flexibility to take on their own personal challenge – any distance, any where, any form of exercise and at your own pace – all at a time of your own choosing.
