M.A.U.K is marking the momentous occasion of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a grand celebration in East London. We will highlight the vibrant multi-culturalism, harmonious inclusivity and equal opportunities that encapsulate contemporary Britain. The festivities include music, dance, cuisine, stalls, parades and anything and everything else that brings communities together unites us and promotes British values. We hope to highlight how migration enriches society through the various art forms of the many migrated communities with a strong focus on arts from Commonwealth countries.

The highlight of the event includes

Cultural performances from various communities of Newham

 

Dramatised classical Indian dance depicting the key milestones of Her Majesty’s reign.

 

Variety stalls e.g. street food from different cultures and arts and crafts.

 

Pencil sketch/painting competition of Her Majesty and exhibit entries at the event, our community centre and website.

 

Stalls, guest speakers and podcasts to raise awareness about community cohesion, environmental sustainability, mental health and Wellbeing.

 

70 volunteers to perform a special Chenda (Indian drums) composition and 70 dancers from different generations to perform a Kerala folk dance called Thiruvathira

 

Broadcast the event live on the Facebook pages of M.A.U.K and performers, online community radio station and television channel.

 

T20 show match between the best players from the leading two local cricket leagues

 

Family and children’s entertainment e.g. bouncy castle, pedal go-karts, inflatables, soft play, air juggler shooting ally, henna, face painting, etc

 

Capture fascinating, personal stories of how Her Majesty inspired ordinary people and archive them on website.

To maintain the legacy, we will create a website to archive the captured memories of people, art exhibition, event photos/videos and highlights of the nationwide celebrations for future generations and a worldwide audience.
