The Shaw and Whitley Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fair Summer Fair will take place on the afternoon of 4 June 2022. The event, which will be free to attend, will be open to people of all ages from across our local area to enjoy.

We are planning a range of stalls from local businesses, clubs, community groups, charities and local businesses. There will also be a BBQ, bar, dog show, display of classic cars and some musical entertainment.

One of the key initiatives for the day will see Coppins of Corsham, a local goldsmith and silversmith sponsoring the “Create A Crown’ competition in association with Shaw C of E Primary School.
All 206 children at the local school will be invited to Create A Crown fit for the Queen and after judging all designs, Coppins have kindly offered to make a silver replica of the winning entry. It is hoped the silver crown will then go on permanent display at Shaw School.

Our event aims to to:

• create an opportunity for the residents of all our local communities to reengage with each other and celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee;
• provide residents with a safe and fun day that is suitable for everyone;
• promote local businesses, community, craft and voluntary groups;
• encourage visitors to the wider Melksham area;
• promote the facilities of Shaw Village Hall and Playing Field;
• foster links between the local communities and raising the profile of those communities and the rural hinterland that so much contributes to the health and wellbeing of the wider community area.
